UDA Summer Camp 2018

The last weekend of June has been an eventful one for Tolleson Heat dancers, as they took over the UDA Summer Dance Camp and earned their qualification to the National Dance Team Championship! All nine dancers were able to bond as a new team and work harder than ever before, learning and being evaluated in a total of three dances each. Here are some of the highlights from this years summer camp.

This year, besides being evaluated in their group dances, Heat was also evaluated in their home routine, in which they receive amazing feedback from the UDA instructors. Heat brought home a total of 27 superior blue ribbons which secured our qualification to the National Dance Team Championship in Orlando Florida. Besides qualifying for NDTC, we also had four All-American recipients, Shannah (senior), Alicia (junior), Audrey (senior), and Krystal (senior) all four dancers will have the opportunity to travel to Rome to participate in the New Year's parade. Senior and Vice-President Audrey Gonzalez had a very eventful camp herself, she received a pin it forward from UDA instructor Kylie Richie and another one from Camelback Jr Company dancer, Eduardo. She was also first runner up for Drill Down Queen. However, the most exciting part of her camp experience was being asked to audition to become a UDA instructor. Only a selected amount of seniors are invited to audition and she was one of them!

In total, Tolleson Heat headed home with two trophies, 27 superior ribbons, a full out award, four All-Americans, Drill Down 1st runner up, a spirit stick and of course, qualifying to NDTC 2019. I cannot express how proud and excited I am for what Heat has accomplished so far. They have shown their dedication, passion and love for dance and they will continue to work to accomplish all of their goals this year.

Florida, here we come!

Thank you all for reading and supporting Tolleson Heat,

Coach G
