Courses Offered

MODERN DANCE 1-2

Beginning Dance covers the basic technique and dance history in the genres of ballet, jazz, modern, and hip-hop. Dancers are trained from Day 1 to use safe dance practices to prevent injury and proper alignment. All students, regardless of prior dance training, must take Modern Dance 1-2.

MODERN DANCE 3-4​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Intermediate I Dance reviews the basic technique taught in Beginning Dance and furthers technique in the genres of ballet, jazz, and modern. Dancers are also exposed to the production process and its roles. No audition is necessary for this course. 

Prerequisite: Modern Dance 1-2

 

Please note that all Tolleson Dance Courses are offered for a full year.

 

Enrolled students are required to take dance both semesters in order to be admitted.

 

Auditions for the upper levels are held in April of each school year. Please refer to the calendar for more information. 

MODERN DANCE 5-6

Intermediate II Dance reviews the basic techniques from Beginning & Intermediate I Dance and begins to train dancers in advanced and "upper level intermediate" dance techniques. Dancers are also taught in specialized areas of the dance world including, but not limited to: production, elements of choreography, the choreographic process, and improvisation. Audition is required for enrollment in this course. 

Prerequisite: Modern Dance 1-2

MODERN DANCE 7-8

Tolleson Advanced Performance Ensemble is made up of  our Elite Dance Team, Tolleson Heat. Ensemble Dancers learn advanced level technique in the genres of ballet, jazz, modern, and hip-hop along with specialized training in improvisation, the choreographic process, leadership, community involvement, etc.

 

Prerequisite: Previous dance training.  Placement audition.
